BASILICA OF SANTA CROCE

One of the most interesting churches in Florence also regarded as the Temple of the Italian Glories is Basilica of Santa Croce. Inside you will discover  impressive funerary tombs of some of Florence’s most illustrious figures including Michelangelo, Niccolo Machiavelli, Galileo Galilei, and Lorenzo Ghiberti.  

Stunning frescoes inside the basilica were painted by some of the great painters of the 13-16th centuries such as Giotto, Cimabue, Donatello, and Giorgio Vasari among others masters of the era.

PIAZZA DEL DUOMO

The most famous square in Florence is Piazza del Duomo boasting three religious monuments: Florence’s Duomo (Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral), Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistery of Saint John.  What captures the visitors’ eyes upon seeing the imposing structures are their facades beautifully adorned with polychrome horizontal strips of green, white and pink marble decorations.

The Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral is among Italy’s greatest churches, and it is crowned with the largest brick dome ever constructed. The square itself with its three religious monuments is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

PIAZZA DELLA SIGNORIA

Piazza della Signoria is a popular and lively square with an abundance of impressive c lassical era sculptures making it an ideal location to enjoy the scenery and have a nice lunch at any of the restaurants in the square. In the warm months outdoor seating offers a delightful experience.

Dominating the square is Palazzo Vecchio with a replica of Michelangelo’s David statue placed right at the entrance.  

The arched Loggia dei Lanzi is a open sculpture gallery showcasing numerous imposing classical and Renaissance sculptures. With so much outdoor art to be admired in Florence’s squares and streets, it’s no wonder the city is also referred to as an open air museum.

PONTE VECCHIO

Not far from Piazza della Signoria is the iconic Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), lined with charming jewelbox gold shops and offering breathtaking views of the Arno River flanked by aged earth colored buildings that reflect in the river’s waters.  Ponte Vecchio is one of the most picturesque and romantic settings in Florence.

ACCADEMIA GALLERY

Accademia Gallery of Florence is primarily famous for showcasing the original David sculpture by Michelangelo since 1873, it is also one of the most prominent art museums of Florence featuring other artistic masterpieces by Michelangelo, as well as Renaissance era paintings by the world famous artists including Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghiarlando, and more.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

We kindly ask for any cancellations at least 7 days prior to Date of Service. 

Cancellations must be made by email and confirmed by us in order for your cancellation to be on record. We do NOT accept cancellations by phone, text message or 3rd party.

** Cancelations for PREPAID SERVICES will be refunded the Net Rate we receive from your prepayment.  Net Rate: actual service price minus PayPal/Credit Card fees retained by PayPal/Credit Card as they do not reimburse us the fees they retain from your payment.

FLORENCE MUSEUMS / ADMISSION TICKETS

Museums are CLOSED on Mondays, and on national holidays: January 1, May 1 and December 25.

It is also NOT possible to visit museums on 1st Sunday of Each Month as these are "free museum days" with no advance no-line tickets, and the wait times to enter can be very long.

On these dates your museum visit will be substituted with other sites in Florence that best suit your interests and desires.

Please book your Academia Gallery or Uffizi Gallery no-line admission tickets in advance for the 11:30 AM time slot. Not reserving your museum visit in advance may result in a lengthy wait in line and the chance of missing the museum visit. Please book your tickets here and bring your Vouchers with you on the tour date.

FLORENCE MUSEUM TICKETS
 

• It is not possible to visit both museums in one day without missing out on much of Florence.
• Accademia Gallery takes about 1 hour to visit.
• Uffizi Gallery takes about 2 hours to visit. Our clients prefer to book the Accademia Gallery in order to have more time to enjoy other sites in Florence.

ADMISSION TICKET into the church of Santa Croce is approximately 5 euros per person to be paid upon arrival

YOUR  PRIVATE TOUR DRIVER

This tour provides an English speaking Private Driver who is NOT a Licensed Tour Guide.

Italy's laws prevent Drivers from acting as tour guides and accompany guests away from the vehicle to sightsee. Your Driver will be obliged to remain with the vehicle while you SELF TOUR away from the vehicle.

LICENSED TOUR GUIDES

If you prefer to have a licensed local tour guide accompany you during your tour, we can make arrangements for you as a courtesy service to our clients. DRIVER MEETING POINT AT LA SPEZIA PORT

Port regulations do NOT permit any vehicles to enter the port of La Spezia. 

Cruisers are required to use the shuttle bus from their ship to exit the port where you will be met by your driver at the bus stop outside the main port gate.

 Transfers from Civitavecchia Rome Port to Florence (and vice versa)

For cruisers who are beginning or ending their cruise in Civitavecchia, RomeCabs also offers transfers from Civitavecchia to Florence, and from Florence to Civitavecchia.
